The Lighthouse, and information

Mon Sep 24, 2007, 1:42 PM
Hey all! I uploaded my personal writing of "The Lighthouse." To give a bit of background: I'm a Dungeon Master on a very sporadic Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Recently, my group came into posession of an old lighthouse. I wanted to do a bit of "fan fiction" with their characters, as I never get to play their characters. This fiction allowed me to do just that. I like to do these 'slice of life' cutscenes, as to do them in-game would take forever. But here, they are just entertaining.

Some background on the characters:

Asmodean is a male wizard who is quite powerful despite his slender frame. Kaio is a tall male cleric of Pelor, god of the sun and healing. He and Kaio were boyhood friends (of sorts) yet are quite opposites. Asmodean is serious, bookish, and small. Kaio is outgoing, very strong and tall, and loves the sun on his face. Yet both sought out the opportunity to have this lighthouse as their base.

Both are looking to have an informal school of sorts at the lighthouse, though not widely known. The nation they live in, Lonquial, is a theocracy of Pelor, and while magic use is not illegal, worship of other gods (especially gods of magic) are outlawed.

Which brings us to Embry, Embry Burman. She is a female cleric of Wee Jas, a goddess of magic, death, and vanity. She has attached herself to Asmodean, though not romantically. The two are engaged to be married, but both know it is out of convenience, as Asmodean doesn't like women in that way. Both have a slight paranoia when it comes to halflings.

Neminis is a female halfling who is very good at sneaking around. She has a fear of 'spirits' and is mostly lighthearted, except in battle, where she is a 3-foot tall goddess of blood, pain, and combat.

Haru is the monk of the group. She is mostly quiet, yet her meditative time is often punctuated with bursts of physical prowress. She hails from a tribe of humans that venerated the noble rabbit, and Haru shares her totem animal's characteristics: short, very very fast...and prodigious in her mating.

Wash is the ranger of the group. He is a man on the edge, or two edges rather; his actions are controlled by his two swords. They hold sway over his fractured mind, one telling him to do the best he can, the best he could ever hope to do...the other tells him to do the worst he could, be the most evil possible.

And the recent addition to the group is Darius, an ornery fellow who heard in a dream that a tall golden-haired lion of a man would come and free his people from slavery. Kaio did just that a few months back, and Darius has followed him since. Darius is missing his right arm, taken by a slaver when he was young. He later escaped, and learned how to make a bow and lethal arrows of pure energy. He has an item that gives him a ghostly arm made of the same white energy, but only when firing his mindbow.

That's the very short version of the group. Their contact in Lonquial, one Justicar Calin, spent a little political clout in their favour and found an old lighthouse where the old keeper had died several months prior and had no children to keep on the tradition of protecting sailors from storms and alerting the country to possible invasion from the evil nation of Glepthalos.

Enjoy!
